OPENS NEW SPORTS FACILITY

Chatham House Grammar School held the official opening of its new sports facility - a new 3/4-size Astroturf sand-filled pitch, designed and installed by McArdle AstroTurf.

The facility was officially opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Ramsgate who were joined by students and officials at the school along with hockey internationals from England, Canada and Australia.

Head Master, David Mathews said: “The new pitch will make a big difference to the school and enable the children to compete in all sports all year round”.

The facility will be used by students at the school as well as the local community in and around Ramsgate.

During the opening ceremony there was a full programme of events.

A coaching “Master Class” by David Bunyan Assistant Coach to England Men’s Hockey team and David Mathews who plays for Great Britain, England and Canterbury HC. Then later in the proceedings there was a match between Chatham House ‘past and present’ versus an International invitation team.

The project was to build a hockey/multi use training pitch. The chosen surface being Stadia Turf LSR sand-filled on a engineered base. A black 3m high 50/50 weldmesh and 358 rebound fencing with kickboards and a floodlighting system have also been installed.

As part of the McArdle Group and established for more than 30 years, McArdle AstroTurf’s past acclaimed projects have included high profile systems installed at Manchester United Football Club and the Commonwealth Games, as well as working extensively with schools, colleges and local authorities.
