NEW McARDLE SPORTS FACILITY
AT UNIVERSITY OF HULL

The University of Hull held celebrations on 7th February to mark the official opening of its new sports facility, namely a new full size 3rd Generation pitch, a 3rd Generation Multi Use Games Area, an FIH approved Sand Filled pitch and Tennis Courts, designed and installed by McArdle AstroTurf.

The facility was officially opened by Sir Trevor Brooking, Director of the Football Development at the FA. Sir Brooking was joined by students and officials at the University along with representatives of the Football Foundation and East Riding Football Association. Members of the public were then invited to stay and watch the activities that followed, which included a coached session with ERCFA u18’s by Peter Taylor, Hull City and England u21’s Manager.

Sir Trevor Brooking, said “These brand new pitches will make a big difference to the provision of football spaces in Hull.”

Following competitive tendering, and with funding from the Football Foundation, McArdle AstroTurf were chosen to undertake the prestigious project.  The facility will be used by students at the University as well as the local community in an around Hull and will be completely accessible to the disabled in order to adhere to the University’s policy to provide to all user groups.

Keith Morris, Head of Sports at the University, said: “ We are absolutely delighted to have had such a prestigious sporting figure to open our new high quality pitches and we are even more thrilled with the crowds that gathered to watch the event.”

The University stated that McArdle were chosen on the basis of product quality and management capability rather than cheapest price, which they completed well within the contract period of 20 weeks and provided the University with a truly first class facility.
