For Manchester United FC, the biggest and best known football club in the world, the notion that only the best will do runs right through the club structure. So when the Manchester United FC Academy built new facilities at its Carrington training ground, they chose McArdle AstroTurf^® to supply and install their outdoor and indoor synthetic grass pitches.

McArdle AstroTurf^® were consulted on the best playing surface characteristics and through close liaison with the coaches and players developed a unique system suited to both senior and academy players.

AstroPlay^® was chosen for the 100m x 60m outdoor pitch and indoor 80m x 60m facility. Additionally, a 40m x 40m ‘cage’ was built for close control and specialised training drills, again AstroPlay^® was the preferred choice of synthetic surface.

Our premium Astroplay^® ‘R55’ 3rd Generation synthetic surface was installed over a ‘dynamic’ stone base, offering a consistency of performance that meets the high standards demanded by the Club and the governing bodies of FIFA and UEFA.

The project was completed in 2002 and continues to perform to the highest standards.
