ASTROTURF FACILITY AT RAF VALLEY

Prince Charles visits RAF ValleyThe Prince of Wales, Honorary Air Commodore, visited Royal Air Force Valley, Holyhead, recently, to open a new sports facility and present honours and awards to station personnel.

The sports facility, in particular a full size sand dressed hockey pitch, complete with floodlighting and fencing and adjacent multi use games area were designed and constructed by McArdle AstroTurf, Oxfordshire.

This unique project, funded by the Indian Airforce and Government will bring the community of RAF Valley together. The facility will not only be used by base personnel, including members of the British and Indian Air Forces hockey team, but will also soon be available to the local community, senior and youth teams and Bangor University.

The pitch will be incorporated into a newly built leisure and sporting complex offering extensive facilities such as a gymnasium, squash courts and a bowling alley.

As part of the McArdle Group and established for more than 30 years, McArdle AstroTurf’s past acclaimed projects have included high profile systems installed at Manchester United Football Club and the Commonwealth Games, as well as working extensively with schools, colleges and local authorities.
